Welcome

This blog is for people who want to research a food forest, permaculture- or nature garden. I'm Dutch so my English isn't that good, but i'm doing my best. On this blog i'll show you our garden and try to learn you useful plants for the temperate climate and how you can use ecology in your favor. This could anable you to start also a food forest...

The garden is 0,5 ha big. This isn't very big, but also not very small especially in the Netherlands. The garden is round the house and we got a lot of sun. On the site we have different kinds of soil. We got Löss (loamy), peat (around our pond and on the balcony) and black garden soil (sand with compost / on the flat roof). We also included our flat roof and balcony to the garden. On the balcony we made a big plant container and on the flat roof we have put about 15-20 cm soil. By doing this we made it possible for growing food plants on the balcony and flat roof. The garden has a lot of altitude differences, because the plot is on a hill and because where also growing plants of the flat rood. In the future we also want to grow some plants on the attic, but first we have to make a big window there. In our celler we also grow mushrooms (shi take, oyster mushroom...) and there we have a warm greenhouse with light from a growing lamp. In this greenhouse we got tomatoes, peppers and we grow here our plants up. This is very unnatural, but we got a lot of problems with phytophthora. Outside we have a cold greenhouse. In our household we try to reusing household water by capturing it in the ponds in the garden. And we starting with a compost toilet, what inables us to use our wastes as far as is possible. We try to use only things that are warmful for nature, but having said that, we also are still looking for how we can better ourselves.

I hope to gif you some idees for your own garden and that you will enjoy our blog / garden.
